Everybody thinks of Africa as a place that is extremely hot. Is this necessarily true?
Not so. Or, at least not to the degree (pardon the pun) you might expect. Africa has a lot of diversity in its topography and climate. As a result, if you want to know what to stuff into your suitcase, you might want to get hip on what the weather and climate will be like in the place you are visiting. Planning your outfits and what to pack is something that most people deal with when going on any sort of trip. When it comes to packing for Africa, the good news is that you can treat it like all of the rest. There’s no pressure here.
This first thing that you should be aware of is the type of climate you’ll be in during your stay. For example. if you are in Northern Africa, then you should probably be prepared for some desert like climates. You’ll want to bring a water bottle as well as some longer sleeves to keep your skin safe from the harsh rays of direct sunlight. If you are hiking in some more elevated areas, then you might want to pack some sort of clothes that will keep you cool during active time but will keep you warmer up top. Last time I was in Cameroon, it was scorching at the bottom of the hiking route but was considerably cooler once we reached the top.
