Hi, I'm Angus, founder of Angus Brown Safaris - a family business established in 1979. Myself, my wife Jenny, daughter Sarah and her husband Nick all work together as a team, to provide our clients with the Safari of a lifetime!

I have personally hunted all over South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Zaire and Botswana. My American hunts extend to the lower 48 and Alaska where I have taken mountain lion, bison, whitetail deer, mule deer, elk, axis, javelina, moose, brown bear, black bear and mountain goat.

In the Arctic I recently hunted two Musk Ox with my bow.

In Europe I have been fortunate enough to bag chamois, red stag, roe deer and sika as well as buffalo in Australia and roe deer and wild boar in Sweden.

Hunting has been, and always will be my favorite pastime.

A typical plains game archery hunt will progress as follows:

We personally meet you on your arrival at Johannesburg International Airport and drive you to the hunting camp - a trip of about 4 hours north of Johannesburg near the Botswana border.

Once there you settle in, sight your bow, discuss your "wish list" of trophies and then you get a good nights rest. The next day, and every day of your hunt, we take you out to the blind at which we know you will have the best chance of harvesting the trophies you are looking for. You take with you a packed lunch, sodas, etc. as well as a 2-way radio, and settle in to see which of your trophies will present you with a shot opportunity.
Once you have shot your animal you call us on the radio, and we will be there within a few minutes to help you track and recover your trophy. After photo opportunities, your animal is taken to the skinning shed where our skinners will prepare it for mounting according to your instructions. You can then continue to hunt for the remainder of the day.

You will be fetched from your blind just after last shooting light, and after a good hot shower, a few games of pool or a few stories around the fire and a good meal you will be ready to recharge your batteries for the next days hunting with a good nights sleep.

At the end of your hunt we will take you to meet the taxidermist who will handle your trophies. You can either have him mount and ship them to you, or you can have them treated and shipped back to your home country for mounting .
After that we see you safely to the airport for your flight home

RIFLE HUNTING

Angus Brown Safaris does not only specialize in bow hunts. We have many years experience of rifle hunting and many happy rifle hunters with great trophies to show for it.

Because South Africa is a country of very varied terrain and climate zones, different species are found in different areas. We have concessions in every province of the country and can cater for every species on your wish list.

All rifle hunting is done on a walk and stalk basis. You and your Professional Hunter have the use of a reliable hunting vehicle to take you to the starting point of your hunt. Then you will go out on foot to stalk and hunt your trophy. Once it is down and photographs have been taken your trophy will be brought to the skinning shed where it will be prepared by our skinners according to your instructions, while you continue your hunt with your PH.

At the end of your hunt we will take you to meet the taxidermist who will handle your trophies - either for mounting or for dipping and shipping back to you, before taking you to the airport to meet your homebound flight.
