Life is full of choices, and they begin while you’re
at school. Subject choices, grade choices, how to study, understanding subjects,
understanding yourself…and that’s only the beginning. Should you
study further, obtain a job after school, do a GAP year or even start your
own business?
Making a career choice will be one of the most important
decisions that school children will have to make in their lives.
Imbila Edu-Adventures has developed a professional programme
to assist students with their uncertainties and will focus in depth in
the following areas during an away camp;
Career Guidance and Personality Profiling
Practical School
Subject Assistance
Entrepreneurship and Financial Management
Self Empowerment and Life Skills
training
Leadership Development
Imbila Edu-Adventures provides Educational Adventures and Self-Actualisation
tours to individual students as well as smaller school groups. These tours
are held in Port Edward, KwaZulu Natal.
Adventure activities, such as Abseiling, Kayaking, Hiking, and Mountain
Biking are used. Have you ever done trigonometry in the bushveld, using
a tree and anthill to determine your new orienteering route to take while
driving your quad bike to a campsite? These are the adventures that make
Imbila Edu-Adventures unique.
During the camps presented, it became very evident that
a big need exist for career guidance in today’s school students.
Many uncertainties face these students, and comments like
the following are made;
I have no idea what I want to do with my life.
I’m
unclear about my own special talents, interests and preferences.
I’m
not ready to make educational/career choices.
I’m
unclear about what educational/occupational choices are available to
me.
I’m uncomfortable about the study alternatives
I am currently facing.
I’ve made an initial study
choice but the reality does not appeal to me.

on a long term career choice, by means of subject choices and personality
assessments that will benefit the student participating.
On completion of the camp, each student, together with
the parent/guardian will receive a report detailing possible career choices,
subjects needed, as well as the result of a personality assessment made
during the activities presented.
School groups can decide what the underlying subject outcomes on the
camp must be. The Imbila Education Manager will ensure that the schools
