- Pennington- Kwazulu Natal -

Now in its third century and host to Royalty, Prime Ministers, men of letters and captains of business, Lynton Hall was the sanctuary of sugar baron Sir Frank Reynolds. With the Empire to choose from, this gracious property was selected by King George VI and his family for his recuperation in 1952, and rests at the head of Umdoni park, the lands most picturesque golf course, meandering through pristine coastal forest and spilling down to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Its historic acreages incorporate the "Chequers" of South Africa, Botha House, donated to the Nation for the exclusive use of its Prime ministers and Presidents.

Its incorporation into the Hartford House fold brings together two of Southern Africa's few remaining great properties of the Colonial era, and provides travelers with the rare combination of the magnificent golfing estates of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Coast with the majestic environs of the Midlands and the Drakensberg.

Our Award-winning Restaurant serves sumptuous breakfasts, lunches and dinners either overlooking the magnificent gardens or in the candle lit Dining Hall.

The culinary creations of Lynton Hall are inspired by its proximity to the Indian Ocean and the property's traditional connections with Colonial India. The cooking philosophy of the movement initiated by Five Star Master Chef, Richard Carstens, first incumbent of the Hall's historic kitchen since its conversion, has served as the custodian of this inspiration, and is expressed in an avant-garde New World style where the emphasis is on flavor, texture and individuality, each dish carrying the signature of his energy and passion.

Renowned for it's nine incomparably styled superior suites with air conditioning, heated towel rails, free standing baths and a choice of fireplaces.

All suites are uniquely decorated in the Indian Colonial style, which characterized the Sugar industry of Kwa- Zulu Natal in the late 1800's, and equipped with a telephone, TV (with MNet and Satellite Channels) and mini-bar.

Up to 120 Guests

Lynton Hall offers a great venue for functions and weddings. It is situated in the heart of the South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal and is surrounded by a natural coastal forest.
