Accommodation
The Santa Lucia Guest House
offers friendly hospitality in a homely atmosphere. The rooms are
comfortable and tastefully furnished and the following choices are
available:
· luxury room with full bathroom (bath, shower and toilet)
with a double bed and a small sitting area;
· room with twin beds with bathroom en suite (shower and
toilet) and an extra divan suitable for a young person. We call
this room the “garden” room as it has a door leading
to the garden and swimming pool. It also has a private patio outside.
· room with kingsize bed, bathroom en suite (shower and
toilet) and an extra divan. This room is also called a “garden”

· Adjoining the main home we have an extremely popular annexe
consisting of a luxury room (bath and shower), which has an air
conditioner, and a standard room with twin beds (shower en suite)
and a private sitting, relaxing area with an extra divan to sleep
an additional person. This is ideal for a group of 4 or 5 persons,
or a family, as it offers so much space and privacy as a result
of the sitting/relaxing area which they share.
In total, therefore, we have 5 rooms. Three in the main home and
two adjoining the main home.
All our rooms are equipped with ceiling fans, tea/coffee making
facilities, small wall safes, hair dryers and a bar refrigerator.
A generous breakfast which includes fresh tropical fruit is offered.
We are located within safe walking distance to good restaurants
so dinner and other meals are readily available.
One of the owners, Francois van der Merwe, speaks German.

Activities
St Lucia can be regarded as the gateway to the St
Lucia Wetlands which has been proclaimed as a World Heritage Site.
Some of the exciting experiences awaiting are:
UMFOLOZI/HLUHLUWE GAME RESERVE
We are less than an hour from this Game Reserve, which is certainly
worth a day’s visit as it is home to the Big 5.
BOAT EXCURSIONS ON LAKE ST LUCIA
During these trips hippos and crocs can be observed in their natural
habitat. A well informed guide ensures that the tour is interesting
as prolific bird life and small creatures which abound in this eco
system are pointed out.
UNSPOILT BEACHES WARMED BY INDIAN OCEAN
Our local beach is 2 km from our home, while CAPE VIDAL, close by,
has the second highest vegetated dunes in the world and snorkelling
can be done during low tide.
NUMEROUS TOURS
These are available with well informed guides – i.e.
a) Heritage Tours - covering, Bush, Beach, Wetlands,
five diverse ecosystems, bird life
b) Night Tours into the Wetland area – Nocturnal
and Diurnal Animals etc.
WHALE WATCHING
In season - Whale watching is an exciting option - available from
June to November.
TURTLE SPOTTING
In season Guided trips can be arranged. During November, December
and part of January the sea turtles come on to the beach to lay
their eggs and there are organised night trips which allow visitors
to experience viewing this timeless, exciting annual occasion
KAYAK SAFARIS
Experience the pristine wilderness location on a kayak!

These can be done individually or with an experienced, informed
