Seasands Lodge in St. Lucia, nestling in
a lavish tropical garden with breathtaking views over the wetlands, (and Estuary
mouth of Lake St. Lucia where it meets the warm Indian ocean) is hard to beat
both as a destination and venue.
Location
Seasands is situated away from the busiest
part of town but with easy access to supermarkets, restaurants etc. See St. Lucia
Estuary map for location.
St. Lucia is officially a no-risk malaria
area & is a 2½ hours drive north of Durban on the N2 toll road.
From Gauteng drive via Ermelo, Piet Retief
and Pongola (6½ hours).
Cape Vidal , one of the best snorkling and
spear fishing venues on the coast, is 25 Km north of St Lucia
The Hluluwe and Umfolozi game reserves are
55Km away - close enough for a day trip.
Accommodation
Holiday accommodation offering lodges which
consists of a large bedroom cum lounge ala Holiday Inn, bathroom& shower,
fully kitted out kitchenette and verandah with garden furniture. Garden cottages
are one or two bedrooms, kitchens, bathroom, private braai areas and then we have
B&B's - basically a bedroom on suite. All meals are available as an optional
extra. The venue caters for conferences.
Seasands Lodge offers double rooms, each
with a sitting area, en-suite bathroom and fully equipped kitchenette. All rooms
have ceiling fans and/or air conditioning, and individual balconies with the front
facing rooms offering sweeping views over the Wetlands.
All accommodation includes satellite TV,
is well equipped and tastefully decorated.
Facilities
The swimming pool is set in the lush tropical
gardens.
There is ample parking on the premises.
The Lapa with its wooden sundeck offers
magnificent views over the wetlands to the sea.
The Lapa can be used as a conference venue
comfortably catering for 35 delegates and is equipped with flip charts, overhead
projector, television and VCR.
Seasands will assist guests with activities
or arrange tours - a few examples are:
Boat trips on the lake to see crocodiles
and hippos in their natural environment or whale watching during the winter months.
Self-guided nature trails.
Turtle tours during November, December and
part of January (weather and tides permitting) to view Giant Leatherback turtles
returning to the beaches to lay their eggs.
Game Reserve excursions - 'Big 5' or birding
in the wetlands.
Snorkeling tours.
Horse riding.
Whale watching from May to November.
Tennis, golf or squash can be arranged at
the nearby Monzi Country Club.
