Shayamanzi is an 80-foot (24 meter) double pontooned,
luxurious houseboat where passengers enjoy different anchorages each
evening.
Cruising in style at 5 knots, Shayamanzi passengers enjoy different anchorages
each evening. The boat is fully serviced with a world-class crew of 4,
who will ensure you delicious meals, a safe cruise, great fishing, game
viewing and bird watching of more than 300 species.
Shayamanzi is registered by SAMSA (South African Marine Authority) to carry
100 passengers and thus ideal for group day cruises or weddings. We have
hosted weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays, wine clubs and ladies book
clubs gatherings. Each occasion is tailor made to suit your specific requirements?
On board Shayamanzi, soak up the stunning scenery of the
Lebombo Mountains Pongola Game Reserve. From the tender boats, which accompany
Shayamanzi, experience the thrill and excitement of tiger fishing and superb
game viewing.
There are 6 cabins, each sleeping 2 passengers, which are en-suite with
shower, basin and toilet.
The cabins are 3,6m x 3,5m and airy with large
sliding window doors as your boundary to the water.
The top deck is comfortably furnished with a lounge, dinning
area, bar and sundeck. There is also a public toilet and shower on the top
deck. A DVD Home Theatre System provides a wide variety of music to choose
from and even a humorous evening for those keen on karaoke. The wet bar has
a separate surround sound music system so that those relaxing in the heated
Jacuzzi may choose their own rhythms.
Shayamanzi makes for a unique executive conference and wedding venue where
all the relevant details are supplied or can be arranged. There are blinds
on the dining room side to reduce the glare during presentations.
The water system is top class resulting in a hot pressurized
shower. There are plug points in the rooms so the ladies have the luxury
of blow-drying their hair after stepping out the shower or jacuzzi. The cabins
are fitted with adjustable fans, window gauze above the glass doors and mosquito
netting.
For bigger groups up to 16 passengers, sleeper couches on the top deck are
used to accommodate an extra 4 people who then share an ablution facility.
The boat is fully serviced with a friendly crew who will ensure you delicious
meals, a safe cruise, great fishing and game viewing and bird watching.
Your crew: Bramson is the charming and experienced skipper
who will take you on your journey of Lake Jozini. Having had 10 years experience
on Lake Kariba, he is an expert fisherman and will teach any newcomer the
art of tiger fishing. He also makes a delicious blended cocktail! Bramson
has his bridge in the front of the top deck.
Our chef Michael is the smile behind the sumptuous meals. Michael begins the
day with an early cold breakfast, a late wholesome hot breakfast, light lunch
and delicious 3-course dinners. On alternate evenings, braais are served on
the upper deck. You are welcome to help yourself to teas and coffees and homemade
biscuits and freshly backed cakes during the day.
Enjoy calm serenity on the water or the thrill of Tiger
fishing! Experience the first Houseboat in South Africa - the only one of
her kind.
Shayamanzi is all about taking time out to appreciate Africa's
special wonders. The whining reel breaks the silence as your fishing rod
bends to the limit. Then the spectacular colours of a tail walking 'tiger'
light up the water surface, and experience that neither the novice nor avid
angler will forget.
The cruise begins in the Northern area of the Lake where
the Pongola River, which is the only water source feeding the Lake, enters.
While the extreme Northern tip creeps into Swaziland and the rest of the
Northern area and the entire Western and Southern banks are bordered by the
Pongola Nature Reserve and the Pongola Game Reserve.
The game reserves host many animal species which can be
seen in herds from Shayamanzi's decks: White Rhino, elephant, buffalo, hippo,
crocodile, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, kudu, nyala, bushbuck, mountain reedbuck,
common reedbuck, red duiker, grey duiker, waterbuck, steenbuck, Suni antelope,
black backed jackal, hyena, cheetah, wild dog, cerval cat, warthog, Bushpig,
banded mongoose, legavaan, terrapin and the occasional siting of leopard
which roam the slopes of the Lebombo mountains.
The muddy plains and reed banks provide excellent breeding
grounds for the water birds which can be seen in thousands - Whistling Duck,
Yellow billed Storks, Spurwing and Egyptian Geese, Cormorants, various Herons,
Kingfishers, and several Fish Eagles.
Lake Jozini is the only water in South Africa where you
find the ferocious fighting Tiger Fish, an African game fish, which sends
you thrills as it jumps out the water, throwing his head from side to side
trying to get off your line. Tackle and 12 rods are available for hire. Should
