Accommodation -
The Royal Kruger Lodge is a Private Game Lodge renowned for its exceptional
personal service and intimate atmosphere.
Situated in Mpumalanga Province in the ‘Wild Frontier’ region,
the Royal Kruger Lodge is just beyond the Crocodile River and forms a
natural border with the Kruger National Park. It is conveniently located
45 minutes from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and a 5 hour scenic
drive from Johannesburg.
The wildlife thrives in this part of South Africa and boasts around 60 species
of mammals, nearly 500 species of birds and numerous species of reptiles. Animals
roam freely around the Lodge and in the Kruger National Park, where guests can
observe them in their natural environment.
Guests are greeted by majestic African sunrises and sunsets, adding to the peace
and tranquillity of the area, allowing one to relax and unwind when not participating
in the adventure and excitement of our game drives.
Personal attention and exceptional service by our friendly staff, is
emphasised at the Royal Kruger Lodge.
The main lodge continues the African theme with a beautiful
hand crafted bar. The bar is licensed and stocked to cater for the tastes
of both domestic and international travellers.
Royal Kruger Lodge offers 10 luxury rooms, all en-suite,
air conditioned and elegantly appointed in African style décor,
enhancing the ambience of the Lodge. Beverage facilities are provided
in each room. For guests wishing to stay close to nature, the Lodge offers
a unique, refreshingly different, outdoor shower.
The lounge area adjoins the bar and offers guests the
opportunity to relax in comfortable African log furniture while discussing
the adventures of the day.
The indoor dining area adjoins the lounge, where breakfast and dinner are
served when outdoor dining is prohibited due to weather….however
this is quite rare in the area.
Close to the lodge and overlooking our sparkling swimming
pool, the lapa offers the perfect location to enjoy a hearty breakfast,
while observing some of our regular animal visitors.
The refreshing pool offers guests the chance to cool off and relax after
their adventure filled safaris. Loungers and umbrellas are provided for
added comfort.
Just a few short steps from the Lodge is our traditional outdoor Boma.
This is where guests enjoy a four course dinner, prepared on open fires
under a starlit sky, enhancing the atmosphere of ‘their African
Experience’.
The menus are designed to provide our guests with quality cuisine.
We also cater for special dietary requirements on request.
Experience Africa at its best through endless bushveld,
tropical forests, shimmering plains and abundant flora, while keeping
a close eye out for the thrilling sights of the big five - lion, leopard,
elephant, rhino and buffalo. All game drives are conducted in our comfortable
open game vehicle with our qualified and knowledgeable experienced Game
Rangers through Kruger National Park. While driving through the Park in
the early hours of the morning see lionesses with their cubs, antelope
grazing or rhinos basking in the sunlight. The African bush will have
something to offer, no matter where your interests lie.
Tiger Fishing
The Komati River has its catchment area in the Swaziland Mountains and
flows down to the Crocodile River, at the southernmost border of the Kruger
National Park. It is one of the unique rivers of South Africa, renowned
for its Tiger Fishing. Here one can experience the might of one of Africa’s
finest fresh water game fish. Our experienced guide will take you to some
of the best sites, where you can also observe Hippos and Crocodiles in
their natural habitats.
Night Drives
Experience the stunning African sunset while starting
your night tour through Kruger Park in an open vehicle using spotlights
to encounter the nocturnal animals. Watch Lions and Leopards on the hunt
or spot the bush babies jumping from tree to tree while your experienced
guide shares interesting facts with you. An exciting way to watch the
animals behaviour at night and see animals that you may not see during
the day.
Bush Walks
Enjoy a guided tour in the Kruger National Park, spotting
various animals, birds, insects, reptiles and many different species of
trees. Your guide will share his knowledge of the local area and wildlife,
adding to the excitement and thrill of observing the animals in the natural
environment, while on foot.
Golf
Swing your clubs at one of the natural golf courses located a short distance
from the Lodge. Watch various animals as they wander across the fairways
while you are lining up your next shot.
Hot Air Balloon Safari
The oldest form of flying is seen as the most graceful
and peaceful way to observe the land from above. The launch site is situated
in the beautiful Sabie River Valley. Depending on wind direction, the
balloon may float over fruit orchards and bush, or forests and hills.
It doesn’t really matter which way you go as the views from the
basket are truly spectacular.
Balloon flights take place in the very early morning and last approximately
1 hour. Guests should allow about 4 hours for the excursion and refreshments
will be provided during the adventure.
Mozambique Trips
Although in close proximity to the Lodge, Mozambique
combines the African and Portuguese cultures, to provide a very different
lifestyle to that of the rest of South Africa.
Our guide will show you the local markets of the capital
Maputo and take you through the downtown area, where one can observe the
extensive history of this country.
Alternatively, guests may choose to relax and unwind on one of the sun drenched,
powdery white sand beaches of the Indian Ocean.
