- Fish River Canyon - Namibia Accommodation -

Experience a symphony of nature, comfort, cuisine and friendly hospitality in surround view of the Fish River Canyon, Namibia. View the Canyon from your en- suite chalet. This is the only Lodge situated on the rim of the "Grand Canyon of Africa".

The lodge:

This is a small, private lodge, where groups of up to 12 people are accommodated in six chalets on the rim of the canyon gorge. The dining room & lounge have a view over the Main Viewpoint.

The camp site:

The camp is situated within short walking distance from the canyon rim. It is an ideal base from where day hikes and 4x4 trips can be undertaken. It is also located in close proximity to the Restaurant & bar, where meals can be ordered.

Canyon Picnic Drives: our most popular activity! Please book in advance. This is the ideal excursion for overnight guests at the lodge, those who do not in particular want to do a long hike. After breakfast we leave on an exciting 4x4 trip with the lodge vehicle, down the canyon to a very exclusive rock pool in the river. An overhanging cliff or semi-cave provides shade all through the day. The pool is 30m deep and as long - excellent for swimming. A lunch basket and bar is provided during the trip. Duration: about 4-5 hours.

Sunset Drives: A 2 hours excursion into terrain where the sunset is displayed in its full glory over the Fish River Canyon. Wildlife & sights with Rock engravings & various Stone Age artefacts can be seen in their natural environment on the way.

Guided Hikes: Hike the Canyon without the strain! Full board. All equipment provided. Hikers carry only small daypacks and rest of luggage is transported by 4x4 vehicles to camps. Camps are set up by assistants and this team also provide all the meals throughout the day.

Canyon Flight Excursions:

Please book in advance. This is a chance to see both sides of the canyon. Various excursions are offered, when charter is available. After breakfast on the rim, fly over the canyon to visit the Hobas Main View point and other interesting community projects in the area.
