Many typical savanna species occur in the area - this including Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Waterbuck and specials such as Roan, Sable and Oribi, with Elephant and Hippo being particularly abundant. Predators are regularly encountered. Around 400 species of birds have been recorded in the East Caprivi.
