- Windhoek - Namibia -
For all those who are looking for the certain convenience,
the familiar charm of an guests lodge and don´t want to miss the contact
to nature and culture. As on this "Out of Africa" Safaris the number
of participants (in Landrover Defender Spezial or Landrover Discovery) is right
clear (min.4 - max. 7 people), individually figurations of the routes and accommodations
are a matter of course. You'll be accompanied by an renowned, English/ German-speaking
tourguide and receive many "first hand" information on country and people,
nature, animal world and culture.
Accommodation
Each evening we will reach a lodge, guestfarm or a pension.
Here we will have dinner and breakfast. At lunchtime there are at most lunch pakets
or we will stop for a snack at a guestfarm. After this safari you'll recuperated,
but anyway abound inexperiences to sweep back home.
Adventure Safaris
You can explore and experience the country individually and
still be part of a small team. The prerequisite is to enjoy this shared outdoor
adventure and to have some own initiative. Also important are team spirit, tolerance
and flexibility, a sense of humor and the willingness to lend a helping hand.
Nature of traveling
Every tour depends on the number of participants but there
should be at least five adventurers. We always will have enough space for food
rations, water and fuel so there is no need for you to think that you will be
going on a survival trip.
Each traveler is a member of the crew which entails taking
over responsibilities and duties arising in a camp i.e. the pitching and pulling
down of tents, the loading and off-loading of vehicles, kitchen duties, looking
for firewood, making a fire etc.
Accommodation
Sleeping outdoors next to a camp fire under the starry sky
is an awesome experience. Even guests who have never camped before have taken
great delight in it. If you wish, you can bring along your own tent (at no extra
cost) or rent a three-man tent (two persons only) with mosquito netting.
If and when it is possible we will camp out in the wild - but
since this is not possible everywhere in Namibia any more, we will overnight in
camping sites which have an abundance of space. While some of the camping sites
are rather poorly equipped, most of them offer clean ablution facilities and hot
water. When however, we are off the beaten track so to speak, it is more than
likely that there won't be a shower nearby. So to avoid you being mistaken as
a skunk, tours have been arranged in such a way that it will be possible for you
to wash every second or third day. At this point you also can do your laundry
or have it done for you.
Food
Although there are many good shopping opportunities in all
the larger towns of Namibia, there are vast distances between them and rations
have to be purchased several days in advance. At your arrival everything will
already have been purchased for the first stage of the journey until the next
town. For the following stages we will purchase whatever is required in the larger
towns as we proceed on the tour.
The days start off with a small breakfast buffet. For lunch
there will be salads, sandwiches, fruit or a lunch packet. In the evenings we
will cook according to recipes and the assistance of our tour guide. Indigenous
specialties such as the leg of a springbok and ostrich egg omelets are also on
the menu. One team will be responsible for cooking the meal at the campfire and
the other for the washing of the dishes. For the sake of justice these jobs will
be alternated. All three main meals and drinks such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate
and juice as well as camp fees will be paid out of the common kitty.
The overall amount (see tour description) has to be paid here
in Namibia at the start of the tour. Please have the correct money ready! Before
we start off with our journey we will stop at a supermarket in Windhoek where
you can stock up on your private rations such as sweets, biscuits, your favourite
chocolate bars and soft drinks. All other camping equipment such as chairs, table,
refrigerator, lamps, water canister, storage boxes, cooking equipment and eating
utensils will be provided.
Itinerary
Adventure trips cannot be compared with conventional group
travels. Unexpected situations such as sand storms, impassable roads, technical
defects, difficulties with the authorities or other circumstances out of our control
may necessitate changes in the programme schedule. So bring your adventurous spirit
along and be ready to react to unforeseen circumstances. We should not miss any
opportunity of experiencing the extraordinary.
In order to convey a clear and honest picture of what awaits
you in Namibia we have worked out very detailed descriptions of how we operate.
Although the routes are predetermined they are not rigid. If you want to form
a group with friends, acquaintances or colleagues, we are willing to design a
special tour for you.
Last word
We will not be trudging around the country covering enormous
distances, doing all the usual sites, because this will only make your stress
level rise, your disposition somewhat strained and you will not enjoy your holiday.
The object of this whole exercise is for you to enjoy yourself.
Time for you to let the beauty of the country and its nature sink in. There will
be time for hiking, taking photographs and just plain enjoying yourself.
