Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in the heart of the magical Magaliesberg, Budmarsh Private Lodge awaits to welcome you to it’s world of understated elegance, tranquility and personalized attention. Budmarsh Private Lodge epitomizes understated elegance.
Budmarsh is about 5km North of Magaliesburg town on the road between Magaliesburg and Hekpoort on the edge of the Cradle of Humankind. Close landmarks include YFC Cyara, Mount Grace, Lover’s Rock and Bekkers Skool.
The eighteen rooms of Budmarsh are individually designed and offer guests a unique experience. Each room offers one or more of the following: a fireplace, outside shower, jacuzzi bath or balcony. All rooms are furnished with baths and showers, antique furniture, king size beds, super down duvets and underfloor heating, heated towel racks, Satellite TV and Internet connections, books and magazines, gowns and umbrellas.
The Main Bedroom and The Honeymoon Suite
This spacious room is ideal for couples or executives who are looking for a private, luxurious room with the added extras of a leather-top writing desk and sitting area. The bathroom has a shower and Jacuzzi bath. Enjoy the views of the Magaliesberg Mountains while you enjoy a drink on the balcony.
This wonderful room has all the luxuries that the other rooms have, but includes a large spa bath, on an outside private garden. The spa bath features water heated to 38˚C, water jets, air bubblers and underwater light, and is kept sparkling clean and blue with ozonator and filters.
Main House Rooms and The Courtyard Rooms
These rooms form part of the old farm house and lead off the upstairs library. Rooms 2 and 3 have magnificent views of the Magaliesberg from their balconies. Room 7 has a jaccuzzi bath and looks onto the gardens and pool of the lodge. Room 3 and 7 each have a fireplace
Rooms 4, 5 and 6 are found in the secluded courtyard with 5 and 6 having their own inside and outside showers.
The Annex Rooms and The New Rooms
Just in front of the old sheep pen and amongst the lemon and rose garden are rooms 8 to 11. These cozy rooms, all have jaccuzzi baths, fireplaces and all have views of the Magaliesberg and pool. Room 8 is exceptionally large.
Built around the old oak tree and just in front of the indigenous forest, these six upstairs rooms have magnificent views, jaccuzzi baths, showers, LCD TVs, private balconies and all the luxuries of the other rooms.
Budmarsh is renowned for its excellent cuisine and offers the best gastronomical experience in the Magaliesberg. Accommodation is inclusive of a sumptous, six course dinner and a magnificent spread for breakfast. Our master chef, Zhan Steyn, is a member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is an international gastronomic society founded in Paris in 1950. It is devoted to promoting fine dining and the pleasures of the table through the social interaction, hospitality and expertise of its members. Membership is by invitation only.
The menu for each meal is carefully chosen based on the finest of ingredients available for the day and consists of a starter, soup, sorbert, choice of main course, dessert, and coffee and truffles.
Budmarsh has two dining rooms to provide the necessary ambiance for small and large groups. The first is able to seat 10 couples or a special venue for 20 individuals seated in a large square. The second dining room, seats up to 25 tables or close to 120 people. The venue allows for dancing or entertainment. Settle down to a apperif just before the main meal, or join your friends around the bar for cocktails and fine liquors and ports, and the best speciality coffees on offer.
Budmarsh has one of the finest stocked cellars in the area. If you enjoy wines or ports, you will find some of the best vintages available. You may also request to have a private function with up to eight people in the cellar. Browse around the cellar in the morning and we will chill your white and dessert wines to the perfect temperature.
The main conference facility offers sweeping views of the Magaliesberg Mountains while the second opens onto the peaceful and tranquil gardens. Both facilities are state-of-the-art, designed to inspire, motivate, develop and spoil your staff. The conference rooms provide modern but formal venues. Equipped to host up to forty delegates, the facilities are of the finest available and are fitted with the latest in DVD, Audio and Visual technology, Data Projectors, together with internet WiFi hot spots.
A wide variety of team-building exercises are also available and the Lodge will assist you with the arrangement of these activities.
Budmarsh is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Sink into cushioned comfort, and read your book, in the warm and relaxing atmosphere of our upstairs library. The library provides the ideal setting for a game of cards, a cup of tea or an informal chat. Cold winter nights can be spent in front of one of a number of fireplaces.
Soak up the warm African sun and listen to the calls of the resident birds while you relax by the pool. Comfortable loungers provide the ideal place for you to lie back and read your book.
For the more competitive, there is a full sized billiards table. For the more adventurous, there are river rambles and mountain walks from the Lodge. Bird-lovers will enjoy the enormous variety of birdlife in the area.
Budmarsh is situated less than a few kilometers from the source of the Magaliesburg river. Stocked with the best Trout from the Mpumalanga province, Budmarsh provides the ideal place for a relaxing time of fly-fishing.
Bill Harrop's balloon safaris is a must for the adventurous romantics. The silence of the balloon safari is punctuated only by the occasional blast of the powerful burners and the faint call of a bird or animal far beneath. The thrill is indescribable - ballooning truly is something really different and special.
About 10 km away from the world famous Sterkfontein Caves the world class visitor facility MAROPENG recently opened to the public. A must see for every visitor to the province, the centre has within it a visitor attraction which tells the story of the Cradle of Humankind and brings to live the history of humankind in entertaining, educative and interactive ways.
The Tumulus contains a vast underground visitor attraction incorporating a sensory extensive display which immerses visitors in touching, hearing, feeling, seeing and experiencing the unique history of humankind.
Van Gaalen Cheese Factory - Open 7 days a week, the farm produces cheese according to old Dutch traditions and recipes. Guided tours show the process of cheese making. A unique variety of cheese is available at the farm shop, as well as odds and ends. Shadowed by the magnificent Magaliesberg mountains, enjoy the superb view including a dam, which abundant bird life visits, whilst having breakfast or a cheese lunch.
