Springbok offers many attractions, historical sites, museums
and fine restaurants. Springbok is very close to the famous Namaqualand wildflower
reserves and to the remote Richtersveld National Park. Springbok is the gateway
to Namibia, only 120 kms from the Orange River border.
Namaqualand is a wide and beautiful semi-desert region, dotted with giant granite
boulder stacks. Between these 'koppies' the outstretched savannah lands is
the home of God-fearing sheep- and goatfarmers. Springtime in Namaqualand
is in August and September. Then the sandy plains become God's own Garden,
when the wild spring flowers burst into a kaleidoscope of colour.
Serene ambience in a lovingly restored home situated at
the foot of the "koppie" where South Africa's first commercial
copper mine was found. During August to October when the Namaqualand flowers
go into bloom nothing compares to the beauty of our area - and Annie's Cottage
offers one of the best places to stay with just a bit of magic and information
on the area.
