Timbavati - Mpumalanga Djuma Game Reserve - part of the Sabi Sand Wildtuin
eco system in South Africa - offers guests the choice of three luxury
safari lodges: from the unique Vuyatela Lodge to the magnificent Bush
Lodge and the private Galago,
We strive for our guests to leave with a sense of the magic of Africa. To create an atmosphere of warm hospitality and to see to their needs with our "can do" attitude. We do our utmost to show our guests the splendid sights and sounds of the African Savanna without disturbing Nature unnecessarily. We see it as our responsibility to impart our knowledge and to inform our guests, not only in the way of the Savanna, but also of the wider South African culture. We want them to leave Djuma Game Reserve at the end of their stay rested and happy with a perfect holiday.
This is an unique African experience, from the Chandeliers made from Coca Cola Bottles to the extraordinary attention to detail in mosaics and other art. You can sip cocktails from your private pool while watching wild animals meander in front of you. There is also a library, gym and a wellness centre (from massages to pedicures).
A rather special lodge, with eight thatched chalets tucked away in our indigenous gardens. The main building is an impressive open thatched construction with two viewing decks. It overlooks the pool next to the watering hole. Bush Lodge has operated for more than ten years and is famous for its easy, friendly family atmosphere. This is where the Djuma hospitality tradition of service excellence within exquisite surroundings began.
Galago offers groups an entire camp with total exclusivity with self-catering accommodation for up to 10 people. Galago is serviced and you can also employ a chef to cook for you. A field guide, tracker and an open Landcruiser, is your private guide through the bush. The Rubbing Post is situated at Djuma Game Reserve's Vuyatela Lodge, but services all three Djuma lodges. We all live stressful, busy lives. When we get the chance to be away from all our day-to-day activities we slowly allow our bodies to rejuvenate. Tucked away here in the bush there is the additional benefit of pampering and time to reflect on the positive aspects of our lives with the pampering treatments offered by our resident therapist Neliswa Dlamini.
The cultural drive visits the local communities of Utah and Dixie and guests are shown how the local indigenous people live, a way of life that has changed little since time immemorial. From meeting the headman to visiting the schools, guests leave with a sense of wonder at how different our lives are. Guests are also deeply touched by exuberant spirit of these community-minded people.
