Kruger Park Safari | Northern Province Accommodation | Limpopo Province Accommodation

Adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park lies 11 500 hectares of pristine African bushveld, which is the 'Thornybush Game Reserve'. With an abundance of bird and mammal species including the 'Big 5', it is also home to five exclusive lodges.

The South African Tourism Grading Council has rated this lodge as 5 star.

The exclusive Thornybush Game Lodge boasts stylish air-conditioned suites and extensive living areas over looks the seasonal Monwana River.

From within the suites, each with full en-suite facilities, outdoor shower and private decks, sweeping vistas can be enjoyed over the savannah and ever-active water hole.

Between exciting safaris take a moment to browse in the intimate library or simply relax at the pool with your favourite cocktail as you bask in Africa's glorious sunshine.

Alternatively while away the moments being pampered in the health spa and institute. Your choice may be to experience the gentle attentions of trained therapists, or perhaps a deep body exfoliating massage will provide ultimate relaxation.

Thornybush Game Lodge where attention to detail and highly personalised service make for a memorable stay awaits discovery by the discerning traveller.

Experience close and consistent encounters with the Big 5 while learning about all the intricacies of the surrounding bush.

At all our lodges we offer open Land Rover game drives accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers, ensuring an informative and stimulating safari experience. Guests have the option of enjoying two game drives per day and a guided walk. These drives are undertaken at times best suited for game viewing at the particular time of the year.

In the summer months (Sept / April) your ranger will advise you of an early morning wake up call followed by your game drive, returning for breakfast. The afternoon game drive will depart at approximately 1630hrs and returns at approximately 1930hrs, whereas in the winter months (May / August) the game drives depart slightly later in the morning and earlier in the afternoons returning at approximately 1900hrs. Afternoon drives extend into the evening with the aid of spotlights to view seldom seen nocturnal species.

Where possible safaris will be tailored to suit individual preferences and interests.

Guests are offered walks accompanied by an armed ranger and tracker to suit their interests and level of fitness. Walks are a great way to get closer to nature and see the smaller creatures of the bush such as Birds and learn a lot more about the flora of the region.

Our Shangaan trackers will enthral you with their explanations of the medicinal and other uses of the numerous plants and trees along with their tales of traditional folklore

For those guests staying more than two nights, who might wish to combine a round of golf with their safari, we are able to offer guests the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf on exceptional golf courses. Hans Merensky Golf Club in Phalaborwa is a one-hour drive from Thornybush; the course is an 18-hole championship standard course, well maintained and very welcoming to visitors. Leopard Creek at Malelane on the banks of the Crocodile River is one of South Africa's most exclusive golfing estates with a spectacular 18-hole Gary Player design course.

Early morning, optional balloon excursions are offered at all the Thornybush Game Reserve Lodges. These trips can be pre-booked or can be booked at the lodge; they are subject to availability and weather conditions.

Weddings are catered for by any of the lodges within the group, however, it is preferable to book out the entire lodge of your choice (dependant on the size of your party) so that the lodge can ensure that your function is devoted their full attention. Arrangements can be as glamorous or can be understated; this is determined by the bride and groom's wishes.

Ministers from most denominations are easily accessible, as are photographers, cakes, hairdressers and florists. Special menus and dining venues can be set-aside for the wedding party.
