Assegaay Bosch Game Lodge is situated in the heart of the Klein Karoo. The lodge is nestled at the foothill of the Rooiberg Mountain Range between the quaint little villages of Calitzdorp and Vanwyksdorp.
This magnificent game lodge expands over some 10,000 hectares of indigenous fynbos – it is truly a place of great scenic beauty.
You will be accommodated in cozy thatched cottages which are stylish and symbolic of the natural environment. All luxury cottages boast en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, equipped kitchens and an open plan lounge with fireplace.
Guests may wine and dine in out homely thatched restaurant which overlooks the watering holes and the swimming pool. Visitors can sample traditional South African cuisine and choose from an excellent selection of locally produced wines and ports.

Bird watching
Assegaay Bosch boasts the presence of over seventy-five species of birds – ’96 truly a paradise for the professional and amateur bird-lover.
Game viewing
The game on the reserve includes giraffe, waterbuck, kudu, nyala, red hartebeest, eland, impala, grey rhebuck, the rare Cape grysbok, duikers, the agile klipspringer and troops of baboons. Occasionally one can spot caracals, servals, porcupines, honey badgers, elusive anteaters as well as the occasional leopard.
Enjoy a nature drive in a “different light”. Our experienced guides offer quests the opportunity to go on a night drive in our custom-built game viewing vehicles.
Fynbos Viewing
Even in a part of the world as full of contrasts as Southern Africa, the area known as the Little Karoo is unique. Boasting a marvellous floral kingdom where a variety of plants flourish. In the winter and spring, the mountains are ablaze with proteas, watsonias, succulents and other flowering plants.
Hiking trails
It is not only the fauna that is diverse, but also the terrain, which swoops up from the lowest point of roughly 200 metres above sea level near the lodge to 1455 metres at the apex of the Rooiberg.
It is a world of ravines, kloofs ot gorges, cut deep into the mountains by streams lush with vegetation and teeming with wild life.
