Constantia - Western Cape
Situated just 20 Kilometres from Cape Town’s
City centre, the lodge is within easy access of the M3 motorway between the world
renowned 'Waterfront', False Bay, Atlantic seaboards and the picturesque fishing
village of Hout Bay. The ‘Big Five’ wine farms established since 1988,
The Historic buildings of Groot Constantia and the Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens
are all situated in the Constantia area. For shoppers and golfers there is ‘The
Village Shopping Centre’ and four major golf courses in the immediate vicinity.
Facilities
The nine en-suite, individually furnished
bedrooms all overlook the garden with it’s breathtaking views. Both Standard
and Deluxe en-suite bedrooms have tea and coffee facilities, a bar fridge, telephone
and television with M-net and many individual touches to make your stay more comfortable.
Queen size, double and twin bedded rooms all have percale linen,
Duane duvets for winter and mohair rugs. The bathrooms are luxuriously fitted
with separate bath and walk-in showers in each and offer a selection of toiletries
to pamper one’s self.
Activities
A trip up Table Mountain by cable car, or hiking up one of
the several marked mountain paths is a must for all visitors. A day spent in the
city centre and the Bo-Kaap area is a mixture of the old and the new, and reflects
Cape Town’s vibrant pulse and multi cultures.
The Waterfront from where the Robbin Island Museum cruise leaves
and the helicopter rides run daily, includes shops for Africa, an Imax Cinema,
Craft Markets and the Two Ocean’s Aquarium where one can share in the adrenaline
and dive with the predators.
The Scenic Coastal Route drive takes in all the major attractions
of the Peninsula, the False Bay Coast, Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek, the Naval
base of Simonstown, the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and the Cape Point, where
the two oceans meet.
The Atlantic’s rugged coastline winds its way around
spectacular Chapmans Peak, the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range and the sheltered
beaches of Clifton. The National Botanical Gardens of Kirstenbosch are a living
museum of South African plants and well worth a visit.
Dating back to the early 17th Century, the wines of the scenic
Constantia Valley have been well known. “The Big Five” wine producers
are Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Buitenverwagting, Constantia Uitsig and
Steenberg farm, form the Constantia Wine Route Cellars, and boast state of the
art custom – designed wine cellars producing highly sought after wines,
blending centuries traditions, and winemaking experience with modern technologies.
Historic Buildings, top restaurants, tours and wine tasting are only a stone’s
throw away from “Glen Avon.”
