The Garden Route, undoubtedly one of
South Africa's highlights. A region of high mountains,
lush forests, sundrenched beaches and quaint little towns
that combine to create an explorer's dream. This tour
visits all of the well-known attractions in the area,
but also concentrates on the less familiar sights and
activities, offering an exciting, package of action and
adventure.

| DAY 1 Knysna
Departing from Cape
Town, we follow the rugged coastline through the numerous fishing
villages en-route to the southern most tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas.
After lunch, we continue through the rolling farmland of the
Swellendam region, and across the Malgas pont into the true
Garden Route area. Our home for the next four nights is the
KNYSNA INN near Knysna, where accommodation is in log cabins
hidden deep in the forest. We enjoy a hearty meal this evening.

| DAY 2 - 4 Garden
Route
These days are for thoroughly
exploring the area and dependent upon the weather we will follow
the "Old Passes Road" through Plettenberg Bay and
Nature's Valley, deep into thickly forested ravines and high
on to breathtaking lookouts, ending at the Tsitsikamma National
Park where we will hike part of the acclaimed "Otter Trail".
On the return journey, the really adventurous may try the world's
highest bungi jump at 216m (own expense).
Our exploring will also
take us along Prince Alfred's Pass, over the mighty Outeniqua
Mountains and into the dry Karoo where we visit the renowned
Cango Cave complex, and an Ostrich Farm at Oudtshoorn We will
enjoy a boat trip on the Knysna lagoon, and have time to soak
up the sun on a sandy beach or simply stroll around the old
woodcutters' town, with its many homecraft shops, markets and
vibrant waterfront. We will also enjoy extensive guided walks
in the indigenous forests.

DAY 5 Cape
Town
This morning, we begin our
journey at the Knysna Waterfront where we board the Outeniqua
Choo Choo, a restored steam train that follows the scenic southern
Cape coastline, and the shores of the Lake District to George.
Here we are reunited with our vehicle for the scenic journey
across the Hottentots Holland Mountains and back to the "Mother
City", Cape Town. We arrive back at the DRIFTERS CAPE TOWN
INN at approx. 18h00.

Important Information
This tour involves a fair
amount of walking, so a small day pack and walking shoes are
advisable. Clients should also be prepared for rapidly changing
weather conditions. Our price includes transport from Cape Town
and back, food, coffee, tea, fruit juice at breakfast, all accommodation,
permits and park entry fees, group equipment, Cango Caves, Ostrich
Farm, boat and train trips and a professional guide. The price
does not include alcohol and soft drinks, tips, curios and optional
extras.
