Exploring the northern parts of Namibia is a captivating
experience. We discover the wildlife of Etosha, meet the Himba, learn about the
history, climb mountains and go in search of the desert elephant. Venture into
a world of changing scenery, with its rich culture, beautiful scenery and spectacular
wildlife. This is the best of northern Namibia - Etosha, Kaokoland and Damaraland.

| Day 1: Windhoek
Windhoek, with its lingering heritage
of German architecture, activities and atmosphere is a city which can be visited
throughout the year. The day is spent at leisure. Hotel Safari or guesthouse accommodation
on a bed and breakfast basis. Dinner and lunch are not included.

| Day 2 / 3: Etosha National Park
This park is one of the most important
reserves and game sanctuaries in Africa. The pan itself is a vast shallow depression
139 km by 50 km It is a ghostly white lake, dazzling with heat waves and mirages
for most of the year. Thousands of wild animals such as blue wildebeest, springbok,
zebra, kudu, giraffe, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephant, etc. are attracted to
the area. The bird life is prolific with 326 recorded species. We relax around
the swimming pool and enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives. A highlight
at Okaukuejo / Halali is the floodlit waterhole where the interaction of animals
at night can be observed in close proximity.

Day 4: Opuwo area
The Ovahimba, a semi-nomadic tribe,
live in scattered settlements throughout the region. They are characterised by
their proud yet friendly stature and the women are noted for their unusual beauty,
enhanced by intricate hairstyles and traditional dress. They rub their bodies
with red ochre and fat to protect their skins against the desert climate.

DAY 5 / 6: Kaokoland - Himba Tribes and Epupa
Falls
The Epupa Falls are a series of cascades
where the Kunene River drops 60m in 1,5 km forming a multitude of channels and
rock pools. A variety of birds occur in the area. We visit a Himba village to
familiarise ourselves with their way of life.

| DAY 7: Damaraland
The Damaraland is a vast and rugged
terrain. Its mountain ranges are intercepted by wide gravel plains which run into
sandy, vegetated riverbeds and hot, dry valleys. We may be fortunate enough to
see the rare desert elephant or the elusive black rhino. We enjoy the solitude
and the remoteness of our secluded bush camp near Sesfontein.

DAY 8: Damaraland - Brandberg via
Twyfelfontein
Twyfelfontein "Fountain of Doubt"
has possibly the most spectacular collection of rock paintings and engravings
in Africa. Other attractions include the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes. The
Brandberg is also famous for its rock paintings. Konigstein peak, at 2 574 m is
the highest point in Namibia. We camp at the foot of the Brandberg.

Day 9: The White Lady of Brandberg - Spitzkoppe
We set out on foot to find the rock
painting called the White Lady, situated in the Tsisab Gorge, named after the
leopards which live in the area. It is set in a wild and beautiful ravine amongst
a jumble of rocks. Of the 8000 documented paintings, the White Lady is the most
famous. There has been great controversy over the meaning and origin of this painting.
We travel to the spectacular Spitzkoppe. a collection of massive protruding granite
rocky outcrops and boulders towering above the open countryside. The area is best
explored on foot. We enjoy the privacy of our bush camp amongst the boulders.

| Day 10: Windhoek
We arrive in Windhoek at 12h00.

Participants erect and dismantle their tents. Accommodation:
8 nights camping, 1 nights hotel or guesthouse.

meals when camping. Breakfast only on Day 10. Group

the airport and the Hotel Safari (USD 10 p/p payable locally). Sleeping
