The Lower
Zambezi National Park lies along the northern banks of the Zambezi River opposite
Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe. The waters of the Zambezi are a focal point
for the wildlife, which includes elephant, hippo, buffalo, zebra, lion, leopard,
various antelope species, baboon and vervet monkey, together with a great variety
of bird.
This safari can be combined
with the 12 day Botswana Authentic Safari.

DAY 1: Kariba or Lusaka - Lower Zambezi River Camp
The second largest man-made lake in
the world. Lake Kariba is 280 km long and 32 km wide at its maximum width. The
dam wall was built at the entrance of the gorge, called by the local tribe. Kariba
(little trap). We depart from the Cutty Sark Hotel or from the Lusaka Airport
at +-14h00 for our campsite on the banks of the Zambezi.

DAY 2 / 3 / 4: Lower Zambezi Canoeing
We board our canoes for 3 days of
canoeing on the Zambezi River. Whilst paddling down the gentle current of the
river, we relax and enjoy watching the game and wildlife at close quarters. The
harmonious interaction of species is combined with a profound sense of peace and
serenity. In the evening we enjoy the remoteness of our bush camp.

DAY 5: Lower Zambezi
We travel through the Park to return
to Lower Zambezi River Camp, either by vehicle or by boat. The Park has a population
of buffalo, waterbuck, hippo, elephant, lion, zebra, hyena, leopard and numerous
species of birds. The campsite offers superb views over the Zambezi and Kafue
Rivers.

| Day 6: Lower Zambezi River Camp - Kariba or Lusaka
We cross the Kafue River on the pontoon
and arrive at the Cutty Sark Hotel, Kariba or at Lusaka Airport at 11h00.

Very limited participation safari.
Participants erect and dismantle their tents. Accommodation:
5 Nights camping. Meals:
All meals when camping, unless otherwise specified.
Excludes lunches on Days 1 and 6. Group size:
6-12 Participants. Canoeing: We
canoe between 25 - 30 km, for a period of 5-7 hours per day, including a lunch
break. No previous canoeing experience is necessary however participants must
be fit and in good health. Important:
Not recommended to participants over 55 years.
Transfers: Transfers
from and to Kariba or Lusaka are provided. Sleeping
bag hire: USD 20 - must be booked in advance.
