Your journey begins in beautiful Cape Town - Africa’s southern
gateway. A stunning setting for a very special city. With famous Table
Mountain that seems to rise from the sea, the many beautiful beaches
and a myriad of tourist attractions, shops, restaurants and bars; this
cosmopolitan city is a must for any visitor to South Africa.
Fish River Canyon is the second highest canyon in the world and the
huge red and orange sand dunes of the Namib desert soar to over 300
metres. Explore the moonscape desert of Namibia, nothing but endless
horizons and vast expanses of night stars. Go on safari in Etosha, “the
place of dry water”, where the fireside tales will be of lion,
rhino, elephant and much more.
Navigate the winding streams and isolated lagoons of the Okavango Delta.
Sit back and relax as your guide gently poles your “makoro”
through these clear waters. Get up close and personal with some of the
most exciting creatures on earth.
Victoria Falls has to be one of the most thrilling spectacles on earth,
where the Zambezi tumbles with a continuous roar. The adventure capital
of Africa you are free to enjoy a huge array of activities. Perhaps
sit tight as you witness the Falls from a helicopter flight or take
it easy on a Zambezi River cruise and watch the African bush go gently
on by.
Its all yours to sample of this remarkable journey.
Week 1
Cape town is South Africa’s oldest city, and undoubtedly a great
place to start our safari. It lies in the most spectacular setting between
Table Mountain and the great Atlantic Ocean. You will have a day at
leisure in Cape Town, allowing you time to explore all the hotspots,
restaurants bars, museums and stunning shops. We will depart the following
morning for Lamberts Bay an attractive fishing town on an un-spoilt
stretch of coastline. Our first border crossing is into Namibia where
we head for the awesome Fish River Canyon and the Ais Ais thermal springs.
We spend 2 nights here so there is ample time to take in a beautiful
sunrise over the canyon, as well as a soak in the hot springs. We continue
on to the Namib Naukluft National Park and the giant sand dunes of Sossusvlei.
This is one of the world’s oldest deserts, offering over 130 million
years of natural wonder. Climb the dunes for an unforgettable sunrise.
Adventure activities abound, including guided walks, hot air ballooning
and light aircraft flights.
Week 2
Two nights at Swakopmund, the delightful Bavarian-style town, situated
snugly between sea and desert. Great beaches, deep-sea fishing, quad
biking, dune boarding, flights over the desert, plus an array of shops,
bars and restaurants await you. In Swakopmund you are free to explore
at your leisure or partake in the many optional activities.
Leaving Swakopmund we journey through the classic Namibian scenery to
the fabulous Etosha National Park. This is Namibia’s premier game
park, dominated by shimmering white saltpans and an abundance of game.
During 3 included drives you will have a chance to see elephant as well
as black rhino, lion and leopard. Etosha also has the unique attraction
of floodlit water holes, which are excellent for evening game viewing.
Week 3
We leave Etosha for the stunning Waterberg Plateau National Park. It
is renowned for its incredible rock formations and guided walks and
trails.
Continuing on into Botswana’s Okavango Delta - probably the most
precious wetlands in the world – and a playground for Africa’s
big game. The Delta is an incredible maze of inland waterways, lagoons
and WildLife. We’ll be on safari ‘makoro’ style, poled
gently along in canoes. Next we head via Nata and the Makgadikgadi Saltpans
the Chobe National Park and home to the world’s largest elephant
herds. Few countries can offer such an amazingly diverse WildLife experience.
We overnight at our riverside lodge right on the edge of the park.
The following day a guided river cruise provides an opportunity to get
close and personal with elephant, hippo and crocodile.
A short distance away is the spectacular Victoria Falls, which has to
be the greatest natural wonder of them all! Here tales will be of white-water
rafting, canoe safaris, bungi jumping, helicopter and elephant rides,
booze cruises or sedate sundowners along the shores of the mighty Zambezi
River. Explore it at your leisure.
