Sossusvlei: hot air ballooning
over the desert, light air craft flights and 4x4 hire.
Swakopmund: dune boarding, quad biking, deep-sea fishing and skydiving.
Waterberg Plateau National Park: game drives and walks.
Victoria Falls: white water rafting, boarding, bungi jumping,
canoe safaris, helicopter flights, microlighting, elephant safaris,
river cruises, guided walks and Victoria Falls viewing sites.
‘Your journey begins at Africa’s southern gateway.
Gaze at the spectacle that greeted the early explorers, as Table
Mountain appears to rise from the sea. A stunning setting for
a very special city.
Explore the ghostly deserts of Namibia, nothing but endless horizons
and vast expanses of night stars. Go where giant sand dunes merge
with the Atlantic Ocean. Go on safari in Etosha National Park,
“the place of dry water”, where the fireside tales
will be of lion, rhino, elephant and much more.
Navigate the winding streams and isolated lagoons of the Okavango
Delta. Sit back and relax as your guide gently poles your “makoro”
through these clear waters. Get up close and personal with some
of the most exciting creatures on earth.
Join the adrenaline junkies at Victoria Falls. Be insane for a
day as you jump off bridges or boogie board head - first down
the immense rapid runs of the Zambezi. Sit tight as you witness
the falls from a micro-light aircraft or take it easy on an upper
Zambezi river cruise and watch the African bush go gently on by‘.
Week
1
Flying into the fairest Cape many clients arrive a few days early
to sample the sights and sounds of this magical city.
We depart the following morning heading for our camp right on
the banks of the Gariep (formerly Orange) River. The next day
can be spent exploring the river, returning for camp dinner under
a canopy of a million stars. Our first border crossing is into
Namibia where we head for the awesome Fish River Canyon. We continue
on to The Namib Naukluft National Park and the giant sand dunes
of Sossusvlei. This is one of the world’s oldest deserts,
offering over 130 million years of natural wonder. Climb the dunes
for an unforgettable sunrise. Adventure activities abound, including
hot air ballooning and light aircraft flights.
Week
2
Swakopmund is a delightful Bavarian-style town, situated snugly
between sea and desert.
Great beaches, deep-sea fishing, quad biking, dune boarding plus
an array of shops, bars and restaurants await you.
Leaving Swakopmund we journey through classic Namibian scenery
to the fabulous Etosha National Park. This is Namibia’s
premier game park. Dominated by shimmering white saltpans. During
3 included drives you will have a chance to see elephant as well
as black rhino, lion and leopard. All camps have floodlit water
holes, which are also excellent for after dinner game viewing.
We leave Etosha for the stunning Waterberg Plateau National Park.
Historically significant because it was the site of the war between
the Germans and the Hereros, the area has now become a haven for
many endangered species. It is renowned for its incredible rock
formations and guided walks or trails.
Week
3
Continuing on into Botswana and the magnificent Okavango Delta,
which is always a tour highlight. The Delta is an incredible maze
of inland waterways, lagoons and wildlife. We’ll be on safari
‘makoro’ style, poled gently along in canoes, hand
hewn from logs, floating through a haven of wildlife and birds.
Next we head for Chobe National Park, famous for the largest herds
of elephant in Africa. We overnight at our riverside camp right
on the edge of the park.
The following day a fully guided river cruise provides an opportunity
to get close and personal with elephant, hippo and crocodile.

A short distance away is the spectacular Victoria Falls, one of
the ‘seven natural wonders’ of the world. Explore
it at your leisure. Take a sundowner cruise or enjoy an endless
choice of exciting adventure activities. Your trip ends here,
or you can continue your adventures by joining our connecting
‘Northern Trails’ trip from Victoria Falls to Kenya.
